- Full Truckload (FTL) is a mode of transportation where a truck carries one dedicated shipment on a 48’ or 53’ trailer. FTL has several advantages over LTL shipments such as timeliness; less handling, no freight classes, higher insurance value, among many others.
Truckload Equipment:
- Dry van: are able to carry up to 45,000 pounds. A truck can carry up to 30 non-stacked standard pallets . A standard sized pallet is usually measured at 40” x 48”. Dry vans are used when the product being hauled does not need to be temperature controlled.
- Flatbed: Flatbed trailers are typically used when there are specific loading requirements such as side/top loading and when carrying oversized products that are unusually shaped.
- Refrigerated: Refrigerated (Reefer) trucks are used for shipping temperature-controlled products.
